Our Services

Pregnancy Counselling

What most people don't know is that all women are eligible for this service at any point in their pregancy and within 12 months after, in order to be supported and have someone to talk to about the changes they are going through, decisions they are facing, impact of the pregnancy upon mood and relationship dynamics, etc. We also recognise that it can be vital to talk to a professional in preparation for birth, after the birth experience, in the event of loss of the pregnancy, and/or within the first year of the pregnancy when mood and adaptation issues may arise. See your GP to get a referral and book your first appointment on 07 5536 5838. Medicare authorises 3 x half-hour appointments and further arrangements beyond that can be made. If you are elible for a Mental Health Care Plan, further sessions may be bulk billed under the MHCP.

The full array of services of Alchemy Psychology range from counselling psychology to personal coaching, and we address a wide range of issues.  Senior Psychologist, John Kotroni, also provides psychological assessments and reports upon request.
We specialise in working with the individual, couple or family member to bring about positive change in how one feels about themselves and change in one’s overall life. Below you will find a master list of issues, concerns, and personal aims that we have success in working with, within each service.

Family dispute resolution

The law requires separating families who have a dispute about children to make a genuine effort to try to sort it out through family dispute resolution (FDR) before filing an application for parenting orders in Court This requirement applies to anyone wanting to file an application with a family law court. It also includes those seeking changes to an existing parenting order. There are a few exceptions to this requirement, such as cases involving family violence, child abuse or urgency. Unless an exemption applies, parties seeking to have a parenting matter determined by a family law court will need to file a certificate from an accredited FDR practitioner. The certificate is issued under Section 60I of the Family Law Act 1975 and is commonly known as a Section 60I Certificate. John Kotroni is an accredited FDR practitioner.

For families

John Kotroni as a FDR practitioner is an independent person who can help people discuss issues, look at options and work out how best to reach agreement in disputes about children.
